Graduate Orientation

We are honored that you chose to pursue graduate studies with us. We are excited to work with you to advance greater equity, sustainability, and justice in communities throughout the world.

You are joining us at a time when intersecting systemic crises are affecting our globe, such as climate change, ecological devastation, systemic racism, income inequality, COVID-19, and forced migration. The need for purpose-driven, systemic-challenge ready, and diverse & inter-culturally competent leaders and practitioners has never been greater. Our curriculum is designed to prepare you to become one of these change-makers.

Community is at the forefront of the department. We encourage you to get involved in the department’s Graduate Student Association to have a voice in matters affecting students’ success and well being. Fellow students plan frequent social events and community-building activities.

And, of course, we hope you will get to know and love the city of Worcester. There are many ways to get involved in community-change efforts as well as opportunities to have fun and enjoy cultural and recreational resources of the city.

On behalf of the Sustainability and Social Justice faculty and staff, we welcome you to the community.

Sincerely,

Laurie Ross, Ph.D.
