The School of Business is proud to recognize the publications and successes of its faculty. Following is news to date for the 2024-25 academic year.

 

November, 2024

  • Dr. Hamid Ahady Dolatsara

Dr. Dolatsara led a group of 10 students from CUSB to the DataHop Conference, where they participated in the Deep Learning workshop on Generative AI (i.e. ChatGPT engine). Inspired by these workshops, Dr. Dolatsara plans to include more sessions regarding Deep Learning and Generative AI analytics in his courses starting next semester.

  • Dr. John Dobson

Dr. Dobson, with Dr. Shelley Tenenbaum and Jen Plante of Clark University, was awarded $200,000 from CERB to continue his LARC (Liberal Arts for Returning Citizens) program at Clark for the year 2025.  LARC is an educational program for formerly incarcerated individuals, launched in fall 2022.  Dr. Tenenbaum is co-director of the LARC and Jen Plante is co-founder of the program.

Additionally, Professor Dobson was co-author of an article in the Tuning Journal for Higher Education, titled, “Entrepreneurial intention development: The contribution of specialized entrepreneurship academic programs.”

October, 2024

  • Dr. Atefeh Yazdanparast Ardestani

Dr. Yazdanparast Ardestani had a paper accepted for publication in the Journal of Marketing Intelligence and Planning, which is ranked A by ABDC journal ranking.  The paper is titled “Identifying NFT Consumer Segments: A Consumption Value Theory and Luxury Perspective.””

  • Dr. Ayan Ghosh Dastidar

Dr. Dastidar has been selected as the Chair of the Doctoral Scholarship Committee of the American Marketing Association’s Marketing & Society Special Interest Group.

September, 2024

  • Dr. Abdullah Asilkalkan

Professor Asilkalkan had a paper titled “A Parsimonious Tree Augmented Naive Bayes Model for Exploring Colorectal Cancer Survival Factors and Their Conditional Interrelations” in Information Systems Frontiers which is an A journal according to ABDC list.

  • Drs. Rita Wang, Kyunghee Yoon, and David Tang

Professors David Tang, Rita Wang, and Kyunghee Yoon had a paper titled ‘Audit Quality Under Remote Working Arrangement: The Role of Workforce Technology Competency’ accepted for publication in the Journal of Information Systems. It is an American Accounting Association journal, ranked ‘A’ on the ABDC Journal Quality List.

  • Drs. Fei Fang and David Tang

Professors Fei Fang and David Tang had a coauthored paper titled ‘Why Do Insiders Sell Stocks After Receiving Options?’ accepted for publication in Applied Economics. The journal is ranked ‘A’ on the ABDC Journal Quality List.

  • Dr. John Dobson

Professor Dobson has a visiting scholar from Malaysia visiting for 3-months who will be working on improving entrepreneurship education at her university.

  • Drs. Siti Parida and Fei Fang

Professors Siti Parida and Fei Fang have a co-authored paper titled “Climate Policy Regime Change and Mutual Fund Flows: Insights from the 2020 US Election,” which has been accepted for publication in the International Review of Financial Analysis. This journal is ranked A by ABDC rankings and ABS 3.

  • Dr. David Tang

Professor Tang had a paper entitled, “Provincial economic growth and firm excess investment: Evidence from China,” accepted by Economic Modelling, ranked A by ABDC rankings.

  • Dr. Ray Wang

Dr. Wang has a co-authored paper, “Firm Location and Short Interest,” which has been accepted for presentation at the 2025 Financial Management Association Annual Meeting.

  • Dr. Atefeh Yazdanparast Ardestani

Dr. Yazdanparast Ardestani had a paper titled, “Applying the Theory of Consumption Values to Representational and Nonrepresentational Images in Marketing: Propositions and Research Directions,” accepted for publication at the European Journal of Marketing, an A* journal according to ABDC rankings.

She also received the American Marketing Association Marketing for Higher Education SIG service award at the 2024 AMA Summer Academic Conference in Boston.
