School of Business Adds Financial Analytics Concentration to its Master’s in Finance Program

Clark University School of Business (School of Business) continues to expand its offerings at the graduate level with the addition of a financial analytics concentration to its master of science in finance (MSF) program. Students beginning their MSF degree in the Fall 2023 semester will be eligible to enroll in the specialization.

School of Business found that many of its graduates are finding jobs and working in the field of financial analytics, which requires expertise in financial technology, data science, and analytical modeling.

“Given the extensive growth in our business analytics program, we are confident this concentration will attract additional students that might have been considering either our MSF or MS-Business Analytics program,” noted Alan Eisner, PhD, dean of the School of Business. “This concentration offers the unique opportunity to study content in both areas and we expect students who have strong engineering and quantitative backgrounds to be particularly interested.”

The MSF analytics concentration will require at least three electives to be taken in an analytics area to satisfy the concentration requirement. Analytics courses will be taken alongside finance courses, covering data science, financial econometrics, database management, data visualization, predictive modeling, big data, and programming skills. Students will continue to gain skills in their MSF courses covering financial markets, corporate finance, computational finance, blockchain technologies, digital payment technologies, and financial trends. Dedicated advising support from the outset of the program will ensure students are on the correct path and target to graduate.

“The MSF financial analytics concentration will give our graduates a competitive edge,” added Dr. Sitikantha Parida, associate professor of finance in the School of Business. “They’ll be equipped with business analytics skills, as well as in-depth knowledge of the field of finance. We are looking forward to seeing our students and graduates benefit from this new addition.”

In addition to the MSF program, the School of Business offers a full- and part-time MBA, with concentrations in accounting, information management and business analytics, finance, general management, human resource management, marketing, or social change and sustainability. The business school also offers an MS in business analytics, and master’s degree programs marketing, marketing-analytics, accounting, accounting-analytics, and management. Also under the purview of the business school are the University’s undergraduate business programs, as well as its award-winning entrepreneurship program.
