Dear Members of the Clark Community,

We write to share the news that Francy Magee, Clark’s Associate Provost and Dean of Students, has chosen to step down from her role at the University to explore new opportunities and challenges that coincide with her professional goals. Francy’s last day with Clark will be March 28th.

Francy has been a valued member of Clark’s leadership team, and a compassionate and thoughtful advocate for the University’s students since she arrived here in February 2016. We are grateful for the difference she has made in the lives of our students, who every day have benefited from her tireless commitment to improving the quality of their experience at Clark, and for her work in moving Clark forward in key areas. Her extraordinary efforts in guiding our students through the disruptions posed by the pandemic have been essential to our success in maintaining the health, safety, and well-being of our campus community both last fall and in this spring semester.

Among her many accomplishments during her five years at Clark, Francy assembled a cohesive and impactful Student Affairs Division composed of skilled and caring professionals who are bonded by common purpose. In 2018, Clark was named “One of the Most Promising Places to Work in Student Affairs” by ACPA-College Student Educators International and Diverse Issues in Higher Education in recognition of her path-breaking improvements to Clark’s student services.

Early on, Francy recognized and met the need to enhance mental health services for our students, moving Clark toward a comprehensive model that emphasized the value of prevention as well as response. And Francy’s commitment to incorporating the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion at every level of engagement speaks to her concern and empathy for all members of the student community. She has contributed immeasurably toward our efforts to foster a campus grounded in mutual respect and understanding.

Donna Curry, Senior Executive Director of the LEEP Student Network, will serve as interim Dean of Students as we conduct a national search for Francy’s successor. We are confident that the transition will be smooth and seamless, and capably supported by our exceptional Student Affairs team.
