Statement on Events in Washington, D.C.

To the Clark Community:

The images emerging from our nation’s capital today are alarming, unprecedented, and very likely affecting each of us in ways both shared and personal. Were we on campus, we would almost certainly come together in Red Square to try to make sense of such a shocking situation. Communities like ours endure because we embrace differences in perspective, are committed to non-violent, law-abiding expressions of dissent, and work together to find common ground to resolve differences and find solutions. This is how we ultimately understand and overcome those things that would otherwise divide us and hold us back as a nation. And these are the values that will continue to make our community strong.

We hope that wherever you and other members of the Clark community find yourselves tonight and in the coming days, you remain safe and reach out to each other in support.
