Having a website is an important mechanism for painting colorful and rich stories about faculty work that is often difficult to convey in the “official” faculty bio pages available in the University catalog. Lively websites get the word out about your work to granting agencies, students (current and future), and the media.
Using WordPress allows you to manage a website from any computer with an internet connection. The form-based interface of WordPress makes it easy to post content and create pages very quickly. With WordPress, you won’t need any additional software other than a browser.
Having a WordPress Site is not a replacement for the “official” bio page that the University creates for each faculty member linked in the Catalog or Departmental website pages, departmental webpages managed by Marketing and Communications, or course websites in Canvas. A personal site is created in addition to those.
