Ways to Request an Appointment

A few hours before your first appointment, we will email you a link to our intake forms, which generally take about 15 to 20 minutes to complete. We ask that you complete these forms at least an hour before you are scheduled to meet with your therapist so they have time to review them prior to your session.

What does a first-time appointment look like?

In your first CPG appointment, you will discuss your struggles with your therapist and the two of you will develop a treatment plan, which might include a follow-up appointment at CPG, a referral to a therapy group or counselor outside of CPG, or continuing to use CPG services on an “as needed” basis.

How long, and how often, is individual therapy at CPG?

Sessions are an average of 45 minutes long. Sometimes all you need is a single session or two to process, problem-solve, and learn about useful tools and resources.  Other times, due to the severity and/or complexity of the problem, a student may require several sessions of therapy at CPG.

It’s important to understand that CPG is limited to a brief therapy model. When short-term therapy is indicated, sessions may be scheduled on a biweekly basis. In some cases, a student may meet with a therapist weekly for a few weeks and then transition to biweekly or monthly appointments. In other cases, a student may meet with a therapist at CPG for a few sessions to help with a problem and need no further treatment. Your initial therapist will help you determine a plan that is right for you.

Please note:

We do not allow parents or staff to schedule appointments for a student. In addition, we do not reach out to students at the request of parents or staff to begin the scheduling process. All appointments must be made by the person seeking counseling.

Off-Campus Therapy

We are committed to helping students find local resources regardless of where they are located and whether CPG can provide the needed services. CPG will provide referral and/or consultation services to help students connect locally in instances where CPG is unable to meet the need. There are several resources you use to find a therapist in your community, including the Psychology Today Therapist Finder, which searches by zip code in the United States and by town or postal code in more than 15 other countries, and your insurance company’s provider search tool. Open Path Psychotherapy Collective is a nationwide network of mental health professionals that provide affordable, in-office and online psychotherapy. If you need additional help in locating a therapist, please email CPG and a staff member can assist you.
