The Worcester Historical Museum this weekend is celebrating the launch of a catalog that documents the county’s LGBTQ+ story at the MB Lounge in Worcester.
The catalog, “FOR THE RECORD LGBTQ+ WORCESTER," follows an exhibit of the same name that was on display at the historical museum last year.
In 116 pages, the full-color catalog documents LGBTQ+ stories across Worcester County.
“One of the main ways gay people become isolated is when our history is taken away from us," said Josephine Ross, the Gay & Lesbian Community Coalition of Central Massachusetts co-chair in 1993 when the initial LGBTQ+ archive was being established.
The launch event at MB Lounge, from 5 to 7 p.m. at 40 Grafton St. in Worcester, will feature readings from authors and exhibit curators including Joseph F. Cullon of WPI, Robert Deam Tobin of Clark University and Stephanie E. Yuhl of the College of the Holy Cross.
Admission to the event is free. The catalog will be sold for a launch event price of $25. It’s regularly sold at $28.
