Kathleen Palm Reed is the Director of Clinical Training and Associate Professor at Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts. She received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Nevada, Reno, and completed her postdoctoral training at the Alpert Medical School of Brown University, where she worked in the Addiction Research Group at Butler Hospital for 4 years. Dr. Palm Reed has over 20 years of clinical and research experience working on substance use disorders, with particular interests in early lapse among substance users and sexual violence. She is the author or coauthor of over 50 articles or book chapters, and has been the principal investigator or co-investigator on four federally-funded grants focusing on issues related to the prevention of and interventions for substance use disorders, posttraumatic stress disorder, and sexual and dating violence. Dr. Palm Reed examines many of these issues from the lens of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and understanding emotion regulation processes that influence risk of relapse and increased levels of psychopathology.
