She left her native Poland in 1984 with a one-way passport.  Currently, she is Visiting Professor at the Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznan, Poland.  Her research agenda focuses on refugee and immigrant integration, global health and humanitarianism, child migration, and human trafficking.
