Reproductive Justice in a Post-Roe Massachusetts: Realities and Opportunities

This panel discussion will feature six reproductive rights “all-stars” to address key questions about reproductive justice and abortion in Massachusetts  and beyond, including:  

• What is the current landscape in Massachusetts?
• What are the key issues at present? Why does it matter?
• How can “regular people” get involved in advocacy and activism?

PANELISTS:  

• Carrie Baker, J.D., Ph.D. is a professor of women and gender at Smith College and a writer and contributing editor at Ms Magazine. She has published three books on sexual harassment and sex trafficking.
• Jenifer McKenna is a reproductive and gender equity consultant and co-founder of the California Women’s Law Center. She has 30 years of experience in advocacy for reproductive equity on the local, state, and national levels, focusing on deceptive and predatory crisis pregnancy center (CPC) practices, the role of CPCs in the anti-abortion movement, and strategies to hold CPCs accountable for how they operate and treat pregnant people.
• Claire Teylouni is the director of government affairs for Reproductive Equity Now, where she manages the organization’s policy portfolio. Previously, she served as a regional director for Sen. Ed Markey in his Boston district office.
• Nikki Fonsh is a grassroots reproductive justice advocate who serves as a volunteer intake case manager for the Abortion Rights Fund of Western Mass and co-chair of the Reproductive Rights subcommittee at the Jewish Community of Amherst. She previously served as an intake case manager for the New York Abortion Access Fund and volunteered as a Planned Parenthood health center escort.
• Sheila Ramirez is the director of health policy and government relations at the Planned Parenthood Advocacy Fund of Massachusetts. Her work focuses on advancing sexual and reproductive health legislation that creates a more equitable Massachusetts for all communities. She is a former If/When/How Federal Policy Reproductive Justice Fellow and a graduate of Western New England School of Law.
• Jenny Pacillo is a volunteer and activist with The Jane Fund, which works to fund and support access to abortion in Central Massachusetts. She is also an editor at Pulse Magazine and CM Pride, a League of Women Voters member, and a proud Clark University alumna. A Worcester resident, she will be running for the District 1 City Council seat this year.
