Master of Fine Arts in Interactive Media

Curriculum

The master of fine arts in interactive media curriculum requires 15 one-unit courses. Our flexible curriculum ensures that the main focus is on your project. All MFA students are required to complete a project of their own design in each year of study that will be published or exhibited prior to graduation.

Through interdisciplinary courses, seminars, and studio work, you have the opportunity to engage in meaningful discussions, writings, readings, oral presentations, guided research, and other academic activities related to your studio concentration. In your second year (8-plus units), you can run your own studio of undergraduate students while earning valuable leadership and communication skills, and project management experience.

Alongside peers and practicing professionals, you will significantly advance your portfolio, expand the breadth and depth of your knowledge of interactive media arts, and grow your network of colleagues through dialogue, critique, collaboration, and exhibition. Through peer review, critique, faculty guidance, and critical discourse, you can further enhance and prepare your studio work and thesis research, culminating in a presentation and exhibition at the end of the academic year.
