Creative spaces

The cutting-edge facilities housed at the Center for Media Arts, Computing, and Design empower students, faculty, and community partners to bring their creative visions to life, providing the tools, technology, and studio spaces needed to excel in every aspect of game and interactive media design.
From immersive audio production to advanced AR/VR experiences, you’ll be prepared to thrive in a constantly evolving industry.
Audio Production and Recording
Create immersive soundscapes for interactive media using industry-standard tools like ProTools, Wwise, and FMOD. From live Foley and field recordings to advanced audio asset creation, students explore synthesized sound, real-time DSP, and spatial audio techniques. Build a strong foundation in game audio, coding, and script management, gaining the skills to design dynamic, interactive audio experiences.
3D Modeling and Video Production
Master the art of 3D graphics and video production using advanced software like Maya. Develop skills in modeling with NURBs, polygons, and subdivisions, as well as texturing, UV mapping, lighting, and rendering. Students also explore photogrammetry and procedural tools like Houdini, preparing them for complex workflows in both gaming and AR/VR environments.
Game Animation
Bring characters and worlds to life with detailed animation training. Learn to build 3D scenes, animate characters, and create realistic movement using rigging, keyframe animation, and skeleton-building techniques—all within Maya. Expand your expertise with procedural animation systems and motion-matching techniques to produce lifelike character interactions.

Motion Capture
Capture authentic, real-time motion with our state-of-the-art wireless motion capture system. Students map real-life movements into virtual characters and explore integration with tools like Unreal Engine and Unity. With the addition of facial capture systems, students gain the ability to create highly expressive, realistic character performances.
Game Programming
Build a strong technical foundation with C++, the standard language of game development. Progress from coding simple games to designing complex systems, mastering game loops, object-oriented programming, and memory management. Students also explore additional programming languages like C# and Python, alongside collaborative tools like Git for team-based development.
Digital Cinematography
Learn to craft cinematic experiences using tools like Adobe Premiere, After Effects, and Sound Forge. Gain expertise in digital editing, special effects, and real-time rendering techniques with Unreal Engine, preparing for projects ranging from narrative-driven games to interactive web media. Students explore the entire production process, from recording to polished delivery.

AR/VR Lab
Push the boundaries of interactive storytelling in our cutting-edge AR/VR lab. Students work with the latest technologies in augmented and virtual reality, including haptic feedback and mixed reality (MR) tools. Collaborate on projects that merge creativity with technical expertise using platforms like Unity and Unreal Engine, preparing for the next wave of immersive media.
