The broad health, science, and society concentration is an excellent platform for moving toward a variety of career paths, including public health.
If you are interested in a career in public health, you may focus your studies accordingly. We recommend that you take the courses “What is Public Health?” and “Medical Ethics” when they are offered — typically, they are not available every year.
We also recommend that you participate in public health-related internships during the summers. There are many organizations in and near Worcester that have internship opportunities that may match your interests. Resources for identifying internships include:
- The Academic Health Collaborative of Worcester, which, in previous years, has welcomed Clark health, science, and society (HSS) students as interns.
- Clark’s Handshake career services platform
- Summer programs at universities: Clark HSS students have participated in summer programs offered through Boston University’s School of Public Health and Cornell’s Medical School.
- Clark’s Prehealth Advising Program website
