Physics major, Ronnie Cushnie presenting at ClarkFest

Major: Physics (Math minor)

Clark Days: A native of Carmel, New York, Ronnie found his path as a physic major with an eye toward pursuing a master’s degree at Columbia. “I wasn’t sure if I was Columbia material, but my mother said if I didn’t take the chance now, I’d regret it one day,” Ronnie says. During his time at Clark, he worked closely with Professor Chuck Agosta on renewable energy projects and participated in a number of Clark clubs and organizations, including the Men of Color Alliance, Black Student Union, and the Caribbean African Student Association. He also played on the men’s basketball team his first year and was a team manager as a sophomore before stepping away to focus on his studies. “That’s what I came to Clark to do,” he says.

Post-Commencement Plans: Ronnie was accepted into Columbia University’s engineering program as part of the 3-2 program that Clark operates in conjunction with Columbia. He plans to pursue a degree in mechanical engineering.

Reflection: “Clark made me who I am; it allowed me to grow up. I wouldn’t have developed the way I have if I’d gone to a larger school.”
