Jennifer Krulisz-Hossain ’25, MPA ’26, and Temera De Groot ’25 are working to create opportunities for their peers through student-led groups that offer social and academic support to first-generation college students.
De Groot is a co-founder of @fsaclarku — a program that offers leadership- and community-building opportunities for students of color.
Through her involvement in the affinity group 1GEN, Krulisz-Hossain has helped nurture belonging and community among first-gen students while also providing educational resources, such as workshops and seminars.
“The intersection of 1Gen and FSA helps create a groundwork for students so that they don’t have to struggle the way [Krulisz-Hossain] and I have,” De Groot says.
