When theoretical cosmologist and particle physicist Chanda Prescod-Weinstein presented Clark’s Presidential Lecture and met with students in an intimate conversation beforehand, she let them know her path to success wasn’t always easy.
“With struggle, I have made it to the other side,” she said. “My first message today is that GPA is not destiny.”
Prescod-Weinstein’s lecture, “Justice Through the Looking Glass of Dark Matter,” covered topics ranging from a deep dive into the cosmology of the universe to more pointed assessments of the racism and sexism she still sees today in scientific fields and the broader culture.
