Clark graduate student graduate student Aiyin Zhang (PhD Geography) won first place in the Remote Sensing Specialty Group’s Illustrated Paper Competition at the American Association of Geographers (AAG) 2024 Annual Meeting. Working under the mentorship of Marsh Researcher Gil Pontius (Geography), Aiyin’s research focuses on data quality assessment on time-series maps of pond dynamics at the Plum Island Ecosystem (PIE) Long-Term Ecological Research site, where her results reveal the uncertainties of reference data and the misleading nature of popular accuracy metrics.
