Postmark: Rectangular postmark featuring a person with their arms spread wearing a long garment with large sleeves.  A castle on a stick is in their left hand and flowers resting on the right.  A German skyline is behind them.

Artist: A.Berr

Historical background: The “Winterhilfswerk des Deutschen Volkes” (Winter Relief for the German People) was a charitable organization run under the Nationalist Socialist People’s Welfare. This postcard was used as a fundraising advertisement for the 1933/1934.

Watercolor painting of a Nazi soldier in uniform holding a Nazi flag. Above the soldier in white lettering reads, “Banristrhes Beamte Noropfer sur winterhilfe” or Bavarian officials’ emergency fund-raising for Winter relief. The soldier is standing in front of a plaque with a swastika. Surrounding the plaque are fifteen different symbols on gray blocks that represent the different areas that the winter relief funded.  On top of the symbols is an eternal flame.
