Funding Opportunities

woman doing art

The Higgins Institute has a long history of fostering research and creative achievement that provides opportunities for personal career advancement while enhancing the national profile of Clark arts and humanities.

Through our long-standing internal grants program, Clark faculty members receive funding for individual projects, collaborative ventures, and classroom-focused initiatives. We have added a new opportunity in celebration of our renaming in fall 2024—competitive seed grants to support a new research initiative or creative project in the arts and humanities. We plan to expand our funding efforts even further to provide summer fellowships to Clark students.

Our mini- and major grant programs currently prioritize:

    • Individual grants to support faculty research leading to reappointment/tenure (book subventions, research travel, etc.);
    • Individual grants to support faculty research leading to promotion (book subventions, research travel, etc.);
    • Linking grants to support pedagogical innovations and interdisciplinary programming; and
    • Individual or linking grants that will require continued support (subsequent years after an initial conference, for example).
