So why is Freud so famous on campus anyway? G. Stanley Hall, Clark’s first president in 1909, invited 175 of the world’s most prominent psychologists, educators, and speakers to campus, including Carl Jung and Sigmund Freud. Freud gave five lectures, all in German, over the course of five days to Clark’s campus.

These were the ONLY lectures the father of psychoanalysis ever gave in the United States.
