Homer and the Muses in Roman Luxembourg: the Vichten Mosaic

Michel Polfer, Director of the Musée National d'Histoire et d'Art in Luxembourg and Associate Professor at The University of Luxembourg, will present a lecture titled, "Homer and the Muses in Roman Luxembourg: the Vichten Mosaic," at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12, among the famous Antioch mosaics on the ground floor of the Worcester Art Museum, 55 Salisbury St.

Academic year will kick off with Fall Convocation September 3

In less than a week, 596 first-year students who will make up the Class of 2012 arrive at Clark. Move-in day is scheduled for Wednesday, August 27; international students arrive on Sunday, August 24.

2008-09 Steinbrecher Fellows

Eight Clark University undergraduate students were recently named Steinbrecher Fellows and have embarked on research projects this summer that will continue throughout the 2008-2009 academic year. Since 2006, Steinbrecher fellowships have encouraged and supported Clark undergraduates in their pursuit of original ideas, creative research, and community service projects.

Steinbrecher Fellow helps ex-prisoners

Hannah H. Caruso of Florence, Mass., is one of eight Clark University undergraduates who, with the help of a Steinbrecher Fellowship, embarked on a research project this summer that will continue throughout the 2008-2009 academic year. Arab and Islamic political expert to discuss 'villains' and 'heroes' of the Holocaust

Did any Arabs save any Jews during the Holocaust? The question will be addressed in "In search of an Arab Schindler" a talk by Robert Satloff, executive director of The Washington Institute of Near East Policy, at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 10, in Tilton Hall, 2nd floor of the Higgins University Center, 950 Main Street. Satloff's lecture is presented by Clark University's Strassler Family Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies.

Residence hall achieves top marks for sustainable components

The Blackstone Hall student residence at Clark University has been awarded the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Silver certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), making it one of fewer than 10 LEED-certified residence halls in Massachusetts, and the first in the city of Worcester.

Clark is hosting "Nubar Alexanian; photographs from the film sets of Errol Morris" from Thursday, September 25 through Friday, November 14 at the Schiltkamp Gallery, Traina Center for the Arts, 92 Downing Street, Worcester. The exhibit opens on Thursday, September 25, from 5-7 p.m., with an artist talk at 4:30 p.m.
