2013 Summer Housing - Blackstone Hall
The Office of Residential Life and Housing is now accepting applications for Summer Housing. 2013 Summer housing will be located in Blackstone Hall, our newest and only air-conditioned residence hall. Clark students are invited to live in Blackstone Hall during the summer.
Rooms in Blackstone Hall are located within apartment units of 4 or 6 students. All Rooms are equipped with beds and mattresses (extra long twin), desks, chairs, bookshelves, built in closets, and window shades. Also provided is telephone, cable, and high speed internet service (wired and wireless). Single Rooms are approximately 9' by 9' not counting the closet and doorway. Double rooms are approximately 9' by 16'.
To request summer housing, please complete and submit the online SUMMER HOUSING APPLICATION by May 4, 2012 if planning to move in directly from your spring assignment, or at least 2 weeks in advance for mid-summer arrivals.
WHEN POSSIBLE, students who currently live or will live in Blackstone Hall during the fall and who wish to stay for the summer will be able to stay in their assigned room during the summer, and will have other summer students assigned into their apartments. Students who will be Blackstone Hall residents in the fall are given priority placement over current residents who wish to remain in their space for the summer. Students may have to relocate if we are unable to assign enough students into a unit with them. RLH will not permit single students to reside in apartments with less than 50% occupancy. Students who would like to live with a specific group of students during the summer may request to do so on their Summer Housing Application.
2013 Summer Housing Dates
Summer Housing officially begins on May 22, 2013, and ends on August 5, 2013 for students not living on campus during the academic year. Students who are Spring 2013 residents may remain in their rooms after closing on May 8th (May 20th for Graduating Seniors) and will transition directly from their current assignments to summer housing once Blackstone Hall opens for the summer. These students will be notified by email at least 24 hours in advance of when their summer housing assignment is available, and will pay for summer housing beginning on May 8th (May 20th for Graduating Seniors). Students are expected to move into their summer assignment and check out of their spring assignment within 24 hours of the summer room becoming available. In order to stay on campus past closing and to qualify for Summer Housing rates, students must stay in Summer Housing through at least June 1, 2013. Students who request to depart campus late but will not be in Summer Housing all the way through June will pay $50 per day.
Students who will be residents in the fall semester may transition directly from their summer housing assignments to their fall assignments. This transition will likely occur during the first week of August. These students will be notified by email in advance of when their fall housing assignment is available. Students are expected to move to their fall assignment and check out of their summer assignment within 24 hours of the fall room becoming available. These students will continue to pay summer housing rates until opening day, or the day in which they would otherwise be invited to return back to campus. In order to move into fall housing early and to qualify for Summer Housing rates, students must have moved into Summer Housing by July 15, 2013. Other students who request to return early will need to follow the contract extension request guidelines. All summer stays must be for two weeks or longer unless special permission is given by RLH.
Students who choose to stay for the entire summer will pay $1800 for a double buy-out room, $1600 for a single room, or $1400 for a double room.

Subsidized housing is offered to Clark Students doing various research fellowships or service projects. Summer housing stipends cover the cost of a double room only. Students with a summer stipend who request a higher priced room will pay the cost difference out-of-pocket.
Students who choose to stay for the entire summer must be current residential students and/or students living on campus in the fall as well. All other students must adhere to the official start (May 22 for students not currently on campus) and end dates (August 5 for students not living on campus in the fall).
