2009 Pull-In Days

What are Pull-In Days?

Pull-in Days is an annual process which allows students with vacancies in their room or suite to better secure their housing situation for the Spring Semester.  During the pull-in days process students may also trade rooms with another student, or request a double or single room on campus.

Things you can do during Pull-In Days:

  • Pull another student into a vacancy in your double, triple, or quad room.
  • Fill an empty double or single in your suite or apartment (with permission from all suite members).
  • Request to be relocated to another double or single room on campus.
  • Request to be relocated with another student to an empty double room.
  • Elect to "buy-out" a vacancy in your room, effectively making it a single (or a triple a double, etc).

The Pull-In Days Process:

Residents living with a confirmed vacancy in their room or suite for the Spring 2010 Semester may apply to pull in a new roommate through December 7th. These room changes only apply to students living in a space with a confirmed vacancy. Entirely empty rooms and singles are not available for students to be pulled into during Pull-In days, unless these vacancies reside in your suite or apartment.  In these cases, students may choose to buy-out an emptied room as a single (see buy-out options below), or request another student be placed into a room in the suite.  Any spaces that are left open will be reserved for student’s returning to Clark from their planned leaves.  If you are a student who will have a confirmed vacancy in your room or suite and would like to participate in the Pull-In Days process, please complete the Pull-In Days Roommate Request Form indicating the name of the student you wish to pull-in next semester.  If you are pulling in more than one student, you will need to submit a separate request for each student.

If the student who you are requesting to “pull-in" to your room is currently living on campus, they need to completely fill out a Vacancy Request Form. All forms must be received by the RLH office by Monday, December 7, 2009. Only vacancies that are confirmed as of December 4th will be used in this process.  Any spaces that open as a result of another resident relocating rooms through the Pull-In Days process may not be considered viable options for a room change, although they may be used as a Buy-out.  The RLH office will contact you if your room change request can not be approved. We will also set up the date of the room change and will inform the building staff of this planned change. If your new roommate is abroad or returning from a leave of absence, he or she will need to indicate you as their preferred roommate on their housing request form. See the returning from leave page for more information.

Unless moving from off-campus, you or your new roommate will need to do one of the following:

Make arrangements to move into your new housing assignment prior to Friday, December 18, 2009.
or
Take all belongings home with you for the break.

Any on-campus resident being pulled into another space must vacate their former room by 12:00 Noon on Saturday, December 19, 2009. Failure to do so could result in a $50.00 fine and will void the room change entirely. The RLH Office will verify over break that the room has been vacated. This needs to be completed prior to leaving in December in order to allow RLH to make housing assignments for incoming students, transfer students and returning students.

Room Trade (room for room switch)

Students interested in switching rooms with another student already on campus may participate in the Pull-In Days Room Change process. Both students involved in the room trade will need to print or pick-up a Room Change Form at the RLH Office. Please fill out the form completely and obtain the signatures of all participants involved in the move.

The room change request form will be due to the RLH Office by December 7th.  All room changes must be completed by Friday, December 18, 2009. To complete this process each student must officially check-out of their old housing assignment, remove all their belongings and relocate them to their new housing assignment, and officially check-into this space with their new RA. Students participating in this process will need to exchange keys once they are finished completing the paperwork with the RA staff.

New Double/Triple/Quad Assignment Request

If you are interested in being reassigned into a vacancy in a double, triple, or quad room but do not have a specific room in mind, you can apply to be relocated for the spring semester.  To do so, you must submit a Vacancy Request form indicating your preference to be relocated to a random room.  Because we can almost guarantee you will be reassigned, you must also move out of your current assignment completely prior to leaving for break so that we can assign another student to your space.  If you do not move out before break we can not process your reassignment request.

Selecting an Empty, Single, or Double Room Buy-Out:

Completely empty rooms are given out on a seniority basis and are limited.  Students who request a new room may not know whether a room is available until January 2010.  Buy-outs of empty double rooms will be offered if adequate space is available.  The RLH Office may hold the last empty double room in each hall for use in emergencies and for double room requests during the Spring Semester.  Requests by students looking to move together into a double room take priority over students requesting a buy-out assignment.  For buy-out pricing see the Room Rates page, and for info see the Buy-out information page.

  • If you are applying for an open double, a space in a double room, or a single you will need to complete a room change form and submit it the RLH Office by Monday, December 7, 2009.
  • The RLH Office will notify you and your roommate (if applicable) if you are assigned to a new room for the Spring Semester by Monday, January 11, 2010.
  • Upon your return, you will need to relocate completely by Friday, January 22, 2010.
