Information for Current Students
Arriving on campus (Returning Students)
Residence Halls will open for returning students at 9:00AM on Sunday, August 26, 2012. Students needing to arrive before this time may request to return up to 48 hours early. The fee to do so is $50.00 per day, and students must request and be approved to return early at least 7 days before their arrival. Requests received within 7 days will be charged $75 per day to return early. Students who arrive on campus early without requesting permission in advance will be charged $100 per day - no exceptions.

Emergencies
In the event of an emergency in your residence, immediately call University Police (ext. 7575) and the Resident Adviser. University Police can be reached 24 hours a day. The Resident Adviser staffs are on duty each night from 9 p.m.- 7 a.m.
Fire Safety
Fire drills are held periodically, and all residents and guests are expected to leave the building during these drills. You should be aware of the quickest and safest ways out of the building in the event of an emergency. The residential life staff will provide this information at the beginning of each semester. Fire doors may not be propped open. Moreover, it is a violation of federal law to tamper with fire alarms, sprinklers, extinguishers and other fire equipment.
Prohibited Items
There are some items that are not allowed in the residence halls due to space or safety issues:
- Air conditioners
- Extension Cords or multiple adapters (As of Fall 2011 only extension cords with surge protectors are permitted in the residence halls)
- Candles
- Incense
- Microwaves (unless it is part of a rented microfridge combination unit)
- Fridges over 5.0 Cubic Feet
- Toasters/toaster ovens
- Pets (fish are ok)
- Hot pots and electric frying pans
- Space heaters
- Mattresses
- Fireworks
- Oil lamps
- Halogen lamps
- Traffic signs
- Weapons of any kind
- Lava lamps
- Ridiculous things you know you shouldn't have but aren't on this list. If you have doubts about whether you should bring something... check with us first!
