About the Marsh Institute
Grounded in nearly a century of applied research at Clark University, the George Perkins Marsh Institute studies the socio-ecological, technical, institutional and other systems through which humans interact with their surrounding environments.
In Memory of Dr. Roger Kasperson ’59
Clark University is saddened by the passing of Dr. Roger Kasperson ’59, longtime professor of geography, former provost, former director of the George Perkins Marsh Institute, and member of the National Academy of Sciences. Memorial donations may be made to the Jeanne X. Kasperson Library Endowed Fund.
Research
Focused generally on how humans interact with the environment, the Marsh Institute draws on expertise from the social, natural, and technical sciences to conduct multidisciplinary, integrated research programs.
Student Opportunities
The Marsh Institute oversees grants and programs that allow undergraduate and graduate students to conduct research on human-environment interactions and sustainability issues.

Housed in the Marsh Institute, the Jeanne X. Kasperson Research Library includes resources related to environmental issues.
