Basketball Well-Represented on NEWMAC All-Academic Teams
WORCESTER, MASS. 3/5/08 - Clark University basketball teams were well-represented on the 2008 New England Womens and Mens Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Academic All-Conference teams, it was announced on Wednesday.
Honorees must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale after the 2007 fall semester, achieved second year academic status at her institution, and been a member of the varsity team for the entire season.
Junior Sara Hagstrom (Yarmouth, Me.) and brother Gunnar Hagstrom (Yarmouth, Me.) earned the womens and mens basketball academic all-conference honors, respectively.
Sophomores Chloe Carden (Montclair, N.J.) and Emily Skelton (Litchfield, Conn.) also received womens hoops academic all-conference recognition, while senior D.J. Brinn (Madison, Conn.) earned the final NEWMAC mens basketball All-Academic nod.
The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference consists of 10 highly selective institutions committed to academic excellence: Babson College, Clark University, U.S Coast Guard Academy, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Mount Holyoke College, Smith College, Springfield College, Wellesley College, Wheaton College, and Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
