Men's Basketball Advances to Championship Game

TEMPE, ARIZ. 12/28/07 -- The Clark University men’s basketball team advanced to the championship game of the Cactus Jam Hoop Classic with a 67-61 victory over Wartburg College (Ia.) in a semifinal round game played Friday afternoon at Phoenix College.

Clark (5-5) led by as many as 17 in the second half on the way to the victory.

Senior Pat Landers (Worcester, Mass.) had another strong game for the Cougars with 17 points. Junior Peter Normandin (Westminster, Mass.) finished with 16 points and 14 boards - his second double-double of the season - while Mark Alexander (Providence, R.I.) chipped in with 11 points.

Wartburg falls to 3-7 overall.

In other semifinal round action, Carroll College of Wisconsin defeated Linfield College of Oregon, 84-81, to advance to the title game.

Clark will take on Carroll on Saturday (4 p.m.).
