Men's Basketball Prevails in Winter Tournament Opener

TEMPE, ARIZ. 12/27/07 – Senior Pat Landers (Worcester, Mass.) scored a career-high 23 points to lead the Clark University men’s basketball team to a 104-95 victory over Ramapo University (N.J.) in the opening round of the 8th annual Cactus Jam College Hoops Classic held at Phoenix College on Thursday afternoon. Playing in its first game since December 8, Clark (4-5) snapped a three-game losing streak with the victory. Ramapo falls to 5-4.

Sophomore Mark Alexander (Providence, R.I.) had 18 points and junior Peter Normandin (Westminster, Mass.) grabbed a team-best 12 rebounds for Clark.

The Cougars, who hit 13 three-pointers in the first half, went into the break with a 58-49 lead and coasted to the victory.

Clark finished the day with 18 three-pointers.

Clark will face Wartburg College of Waverly, Iowa on Friday (2 p.m.).
