- Data Mining Community Profiles/7-week module, 1/2 credit
This is a series of practical exercises in acquiring and manipulating data, mainly from the U.S. census online, in order to create a profile of a city or neighborhood. Income, poverty and linguistic isolation are examples. The course does not assume or use probability statistics, but it does make heavy use of spreadsheets and arithmetic. Student will take away templates that will allow them to perform profiles anywhere they go. Reading load is light; Internet and spreadsheet computer work is moderately heavy.
