Kamana Pokharel (IDSC '2014)

Kamana Pokharel (Nepal) holds a B.A. in Social Work from St. Xavier's College, Kathmandu, Nepal. She has successfully completed her Bachelor's in Human Services degree from Cambridge College, MA, USA. She has volunteered in a variety of organizations dedicated to social welfare from community development to the welfare of children and the elderly, to mental health, to correctional institutions. Her interest in social change became intense during the days of her field work, when she saw the discrimination in Nepal. In her opinion, illiteracy is the cause of many ills. For the success of a person, whether man or woman, education plays an important role. In the long run, she would like to work for an institution focused on benefitting children and their education. Focusing on education automatically promotes empowerment.
