Grace Akall (IDSC '2010)

Grace Akall (Uganda) joined Uganda Christian University, a Christian College in Uganda and then transferred to Gordon College, where she received her B.A. in communication in 2007. She has worked in the department of public relations at World Vision, a Christian organization that helps children in different parts of the world and as a counselor, assisting in the reintegration and education of former child soldiers at Rachelle Rehabilitation Center in Lira, Uganda. In 2004, she spoke in front of the Amnesty International Annual Meeting, and appeared on the Oprah Winfrey show. She testified in front of the House International Relations Subcommittee on Africa, Global Human Rights and International Operations at the House of Judiciary subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism and Home Land Security Hearing, arguing for the House to pass “the soldier accountability act” in 2007. She has also co-authored a book, Girl Soldier, which is a story of hope for Northern Ugandans Children, about her life and the life of many other children who are still going through unspeakable suffering.
