Mary Poor (IDSC '2011)

Mary Poor (USA) received her B.A. in English literature from the University of Connecticut and her M.A. in English and American literature from Boston College. Early in her career she worked as a grantwriter for several non-profit organizations. After receiving her Master’s degree in 1989 she taught English literature and writing at the university level and worked on various education and cultural enrichment projects in the public school system. Currently, she volunteers at Grassroots International (GI), a human rights and international development organization that supports community-led sustainable development projects in the Middle East, Asia, and the Americas. She also volunteers as an ELL tutor at the South Sudanese Education Center (SEEC) in Arlington, Massachusetts.
