Caitlin Alcorn (IDSC '2014)

Caitlin Alcorn (USA) received a B.S. in Food and Resource Economics from the University of Florida. Her interests include political participation of women in the developing world, other gender issues and human trafficking. Caitlin was an English as a Second Language Instructor at the Gilchrist Center for Cultural Diversity in Wheaton, MD, and worked with a Mayan women's group building fuel efficient stoves in Guatemala through the Highland Support Project. As an intern, she assisted with research projects in the areas of castanha and acai production, and rural education programs through EMBRAPA (the Brazilian Enterprise for Agricultural Research) in Amapa, Brazil. With AmeriCorps, she was the Volunteer Maryland Coordinator at the Montgomery County Volunteer Center in Rockville, MD.
